Community submissions
Useful, local, honest.
Simple Berkeley is a curated guide, not an open advertising directory. These rules keep recommendations genuinely helpful to students.

What belongs here
Nominate a real Berkeley-area restaurant, café, study spot, activity, or date idea that students can reasonably visit. Give an accurate name and location and explain what makes it useful. We favor distinctive local places; national chains and duplicate submissions may be omitted.
Be genuine
Submit recommendations based on real knowledge or experience. Do not use multiple accounts, automation, incentives, or coordinated voting to manipulate rankings. Owners and employees should disclose their relationship in the nomination reason.
Keep it safe and respectful
Do not submit harassment, hate, threats, private personal information, impersonation, spam, illegal content, or misleading claims. Do not include payment details, student IDs, health information, or other sensitive data.
Images and links
Only submit images you created, have permission to share, or that are clearly licensed for this use. Tell us the creator and source when attribution is required. Links should go to the venue or another useful, trustworthy source—not an affiliate or tracking link.
Moderation
Submissions are reviewed before publication. We may edit for clarity, merge duplicates, correct factual details, decline a submission, change categories, or remove a place that has closed or no longer fits the guide. Rankings are based on community recommendations and are not paid placements.
Corrections and rights concerns
To report a closure, incorrect detail, ranking abuse, unsafe content, or an image-rights concern, email simpleberkeley@gmail.com. Include the place name, page URL, and a short explanation so we can investigate quickly.
